Tabi Rack (furniture)This piece reinterprets the silhouette of the tabi shoe into a furniture object, drawing from fashion history and utilitarian design.
Originally worn by Japanese farmers, soldiers, and construction workers, the tabi’s split-toe form is translated into a cylindrical cabinet supported by three leg-like columns. The surface is treated with layered paint studies to create a weathered, tactile finish, translating the labor and wear of its historical references. The piece stands at the intersection of function and memory, where material and texture becomes a vessel for storytelling.
